A Day in the Life: Olive and Clover at the Sydney Trade Fairs
Posted on 21 February 2014
Last week I headed off to Sydney full of excitement, (and the mantra "I must not blow my budget") to see what was new and exciting coming up in the world for Fashion, Accessories & Interiors. After dropping the kids of at School on Thursday morning, and a last minute coffee date with my husband, I was off up the highway and on my way to Sydney.
First stop was the Life In-Style Trade Show held in the Hordern Pavilion at Fox Studios in Sydney's east. This is always a highlight of the year for me, as not only is it always filled with exciting new products, but one of my great friends of school, who now lives in Brisbane, is there with her flamboyant flamingos. So excited for her this year, to have them featured in the Style Lab, that is put together each day, but re-known Sydney stylist Mr Jason Grant.
How great do they look, coming out of the Olive Buckets with the Fiddle Leaf Fig's.?
One of the most exciting things for me was finding the new 'Holiday' Collection by Megan Park. I have been a huge fan of Megan's fashion label for a few years now, and have been lucky enough to have a few of her dresses hanging in my wardrobe. This new Holiday collection is similar to her First Tier label, but instead of silks, she has used beautiful soft cottons, still with her attention to detail, but with a much lower price point.
Look forward to her pieces coming to Olive & Clover Spring Summer 2014.
But don't worry, there is plenty of exciting things that will be arriving in the next few weeks. These amazing Kimonos, Dresses, Singlets and necklaces will be arriving in the next few weeks.
Designed in Melbourne, this new label MOSK is part of the Greenhouse Interiors collection, so you know it is going to have some serious street cred. Made from a silk like fabric called Terylene, they look and feels similar to silk, but are completely machine washable, and you don't need to be as precious with them as you would silk. Kimonos are already a big look at the moment, and these are the best ones I have found anywhere.
I was so in love with them that I couldn't wait for the order to arrive, and ended up buying one off the rack on the last day of the fair and have been wearing it ever since. These will be arriving in March to Olive & Clover.
Another label that will be arriving shortly to Olive & Clover is Langdon. The grey 'Flower Bomb' pants are already on their way, with aztec statement blazer to follow shortly. Their cushions and rugs were also really beautiful and different to a lot of the other ones I have seen, which was really refreshing.
I was also extremely found of the gold / leopard skin boots (at the top right) they were displayed as children's shoes, but I am seriously considering getting some made in adult sizes? what do you think?
To finish off with I want to share with you one more label that will be arriving for Spring / Summer 2014. Ollie & Max have been producing some great shirts and accessories for the past few years, but this year they have stepped it up, with this amazing silk and cotton Summer Dresses. Beautiful embroidered detail and patterns in striking colours. The mixture of texture and colours made me stop in my tracks and quickly run in and make an order. Love Love Love them!
There were of course so many more beautiful things, but with just my iphone and my head buzzing with inspiration, (and budgets) this was all I managed to snap. (please excuse the quality of some of these images too).
Hope you have enjoyed this little behind the scenes post, I'll try and keep them coming.
