A Day in the Life - Sibella Court Tips & Tricks of the trade Workshop!

Posted on 30 March 2015

The Society Inc Warehouse
75 Mary Street, St Peters

On Saturday I made the trip to Sydney for the day, to attend a 'Tips & Tricks of the Trade' Workshop with Sibella Court.
Sibella has recently opened her new warehouse in the Sydney suburb of St Peters, and it is Ah - mazing!
It is possibly my favourite place to visit in Sydney now... maybe all that is missing is a good cafe / coffee shop nearby.
As you can see from some of these photos below, I got a lot of inspiration for my new showroom from Sibella's new space. (including my huge balloon light!)

My wonderful friend Lucy (from Lucy Snodgrass Design) flew down from Coonamble to join me for the day.

Tips & Tricks of the Trade Workshop.

After a very early start on Saturday morning (5am) & a 4 hours drive to Sydney, I arrived at the warehouse  and I was not disappointed!
Sibella spoke about how she got started in the styling industry, & her career both within Australia and her time spent abroad.

She then went on to create three still life vignettes, each with a different theme and each equally stunning!
The first an Indigo Blue Vignette
Created using a mixture of textures & layers of silk shibori, always a natural component - a stunning blue hydranga, a shell lamp she picked up in San Francisco & a beautiful indigo hand painted plate, mixed with an ikea jug.

Vignette number two was a Wabi-sabi still life  - that of natural balance and calm. Stunning!

and lastly a nautical theme, but not what you'd expect - and this one was quite possibly my favourite.
I love blues, but I really am loving these earth colours too.

Throughout the demonstration Sibella spoke about choosing textures, mixing materials, considering proportion, backgrounds and looking through the camera lens.

All in all I came away completely inspired and excited to set into practice so many of the things that I learned.

The Fuel:
After a morning spent soaking in so much inspiration and knowledge, Lucy & I were starving, so after negotiating our way out of St Peters, as two country girls, we were pretty pleased with ourselves for finding our way to the Sonoma Cafe on Dank St at Waterloo.

Toasted sandbos were on the table and no photo was worth waiting for the first bite. Yum!

No day in the life post is complete without a 'Wearing' post. So for a day at a beautiful Autumn day this Binny dress was a no brainer. Worn over the top of jeans, with a few simple accessories, it was easy wearing, extremely comfortable and looked great!

Have a lovely week everyone - I'm off today to attend my the Local is Lovely workshop in Rydal.. more to come on that soon! I promise.

Such a fantastic morning. A very inspiring workshop. What a clever chick Sibella Court is & I’m loving everything in her new space. Well worth the early morning flight to Syd for the day. Loved hanging out with Olive & Clover, being able to brain storm after the event & hopefully be able to bring more great ideas & things to all our country friends. Gorgeous pics, not to mention I’m wearing the Rough Rugs dress which I Love! Thanks Prue XO
