About the Storm Boy Collection - From Binny;
'Storm Boy’ written by Colin Thiele was a film shot in the 70’s on the
inland saltwater lagoon the Coorong in South Australia. A tale about a
little boy and his friendship with Fingerbone the Aboriginal tucker and
his pet pelican, Mr Percival.
We live twenty minutes from where this was photographed.
The stark, wild, raw beauty of this landscape is so unique.
As is the the lifestyle of the people who make their living fishing off
these waters. The local Ngarrindjeri tribe is famous for internationally
renowned indigenous artists.
There are skies of black duck, rookeries of pelicans, swans elegantly
gliding through the water as still as glass. Fisherman huts line the
waters edge with the sun lighting p the brilliant white of the sandhills.
It’s worth watching Storm Boy and worth visiting this
special part of Australia.
